About Benz Tech
Learn who we are, where we are, and what sets us apart from dealerships and general repair shops in the Michiana area.
Benz Tech is an independent European auto repair shop located at 3816 Lexington Park Dr, Elkhart, IN 46514. We specialize in dealer-alternative diagnostics, maintenance, and repair for European and German vehicles including Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Volkswagen, Porsche, Maybach, and Sprinter. We serve Elkhart and the greater Michiana area including Mishawaka, Goshen, South Bend, Granger, Nappanee, Middlebury, and Edwardsburg.
We are open Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. You can reach us by phone at (574) 333-3059, through the contact form on our website, or by booking online using our scheduling tool. We are closed on weekends.
Benz Tech was founded in 2006 and has been serving European vehicle owners in Elkhart and Michiana for nearly two decades. Our technicians bring over 75 years of combined professional experience to every service and repair we perform.
Benz Tech is owner-operated by Andy Bogue. Customers frequently deal directly with Andy and our lead technicians, which means you get straightforward, expert answers — not a service writer passing messages between you and a technician you never meet. This hands-on ownership is a big part of why customers trust us and return for every service.
Benz Tech provides the same factory-level diagnostic software and ASE-certified European expertise you would find at a dealership — without the upsell pressure, slower turnaround, or higher labor rates. We communicate directly with you before and after every repair, provide clear estimates in advance, and back our work with a 24-month / 24,000-mile warranty. Most of our customers come to us specifically because they want dealer-level quality with a better overall experience.
Vehicles
European Vehicles & Brands We Service
Benz Tech focuses exclusively on European and German vehicles. Here is what you need to know about which vehicles we work on and why a specialist matters.
Benz Tech specializes in Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Volkswagen, Porsche, Maybach, and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans. We also service other select European and import vehicles. If you are unsure whether we work on your specific make or model, give us a call at (574) 333-3059 and we will let you know right away.
European vehicles — especially German brands like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and Volkswagen — use proprietary electronic systems, unique coding requirements, and brand-specific components that general repair shops are not equipped to handle accurately. Without factory-level diagnostic software, a general shop may misdiagnose the problem or replace parts that do not need to be replaced. Benz Tech uses the same diagnostic tools the factory uses, which means faster and more accurate diagnoses the first time.
Yes. We work on European vehicles across a wide range of model years and mileage levels. Whether you drive a newer model still under manufacturer warranty or a high-mileage vehicle that needs preventive care, our technicians are experienced with the full range of European mechanical and electronic systems. We will give you an honest assessment of what your vehicle needs and help you make smart decisions for the long term.
No. Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, manufacturers cannot void your vehicle warranty simply because you chose an independent repair shop over a dealership, as long as the service was performed correctly using appropriate parts. Benz Tech uses quality parts and factory-level diagnostic equipment, so your vehicle is in expert hands without risking your warranty coverage. If you have specific concerns, feel free to ask us and we will walk you through the details.
Yes — Sprinter vans and commercial vehicles are one of our strongest areas of expertise. We service Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans for individual owners, small businesses, and large commercial fleets. Through our dedicated van division, BenzTech VanWorks, we also service Ford Transit and Ram ProMaster vans. See the Sprinter & Fleet section below for more details.
How We Work
Diagnostics & Repair Process
We diagnose before we repair. Here is how our process protects your vehicle, your wallet, and your time.
A vehicle diagnostic check connects your car's onboard computer systems to factory-level diagnostic software, allowing our technicians to read fault codes, monitor live sensor data, and identify the root cause of any warning light or drivability issue. This matters because without a proper diagnostic, technicians are guessing — which often leads to replacing parts that are not the actual problem. Our diagnostics-first approach means we fix the right thing the first time, saving you money and keeping your vehicle off the lift longer.
Yes. Benz Tech uses factory-level diagnostic equipment designed specifically for European and German vehicles. This is the same class of software used by manufacturer dealerships. Generic OBD scanners used by most general repair shops cannot access the deeper system modules — like transmission control units, suspension modules, or body control systems — that European vehicles rely on. Our specialized tools give us full access so we can accurately identify what is wrong.
Once the diagnostic is complete, we contact you to explain exactly what we found in plain language — no confusing jargon. We walk you through what needs to be repaired now, what can wait, and what it will cost. We never start repair work without your approval. This transparent process ensures there are no surprises on your invoice and you always understand what your vehicle needs before we touch it.
You should schedule a diagnostic check any time a warning light comes on (check engine, ABS, airbag, traction control, etc.), if you notice a change in how your vehicle drives, brakes, or shifts, or if your vehicle fails an emissions test. For Sprinter and commercial van owners, we also recommend regular proactive diagnostics as part of a preventive maintenance schedule to minimize unexpected downtime.
Turnaround time depends on the type and complexity of the repair. Routine maintenance such as an oil change or tire rotation is typically completed the same day. More involved repairs like brake work, suspension components, or engine diagnostics may take one to two business days. Complex engine or transmission repairs may take longer depending on parts availability. In all cases, we communicate estimated completion time upfront and keep you informed of any changes. Our goal is always to return your vehicle faster than a dealership would.
Cost & Coverage
Pricing, Warranty & Financing
We believe in transparent pricing, no upsell pressure, and warranty-backed repairs. Here are answers to the most common questions about cost and coverage.
In most cases, yes. Dealerships carry significantly higher overhead, and their labor rates typically reflect that. Benz Tech provides the same diagnostic capability and ASE-certified expertise at more competitive rates. Our customers consistently describe our pricing as fair and reasonable, and many specifically mention coming to us after being quoted much higher at a dealership. You get dealer-quality work without the dealership markup.
Yes, always. After completing the diagnostic, we provide a written estimate that details the repair needed, parts required, and total cost. We never begin any repair work without your explicit approval. If during the repair we discover something additional that needs attention, we contact you immediately to explain and get your approval before proceeding. You will never receive a surprise charge on your invoice.
Most repairs performed at Benz Tech are backed by a 24-month / 24,000-mile warranty. This covers both parts and labor, giving you genuine confidence long after you drive off the lot. If an issue related to a covered repair arises within that period, we will make it right. This warranty is one of the clearest signs that we stand behind the quality of our work.
Yes. Benz Tech offers repair financing through Affirm, which allows you to split the cost of repairs into manageable monthly payments. This is especially helpful for larger repair jobs that you need done right away but would prefer not to pay all at once. Ask us about financing options when you bring your vehicle in, or inquire when requesting your estimate.
Payment is collected when you pick up your vehicle after service is complete. We will have already walked you through the estimate and received your approval before the repair began, so you know exactly what to expect when you arrive. We accept all major forms of payment and can discuss financing through Affirm prior to service if needed.
Getting Started
Appointments & Service Experience
Here is what to expect from your first call or booking to the moment you pick up your vehicle.
You can book a service appointment three ways: call us directly at (574) 333-3059 during business hours, fill out the contact form on our website, or use our online booking tool available on the homepage. We are open Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Our team will confirm your appointment and let you know what to expect at drop-off.
We strongly recommend scheduling an appointment in advance to ensure we can give your vehicle the time and attention it deserves. Walk-ins may be accommodated depending on the day and current workload, but calling ahead guarantees you a spot and helps us prepare for your specific vehicle and service needs. For urgent situations, give us a call and we will do our best to help.
Yes. Clear communication is a core part of how we operate. After completing the diagnostic, we will contact you to explain what we found and walk through the recommended repairs and estimated cost. If anything changes during the repair — for example if we discover an additional issue — we will call you before proceeding. You are always informed and always in control of what gets done to your vehicle.
The more detail you can give us the better. Let us know what warning lights are on, when the issue started, what symptoms you have noticed (sounds, smells, how the car feels while driving or braking), and whether the problem is constant or intermittent. Any recent repairs or services done elsewhere are also helpful for context. This information helps our technicians target the diagnostic quickly and accurately.
Commercial Service
Sprinter Vans & Commercial Fleets
Benz Tech has built a specialized reputation for keeping Sprinter vans and commercial fleets on the road. Here is everything you need to know about our van and fleet services.
Yes. Sprinter vans are one of the areas we are best known for. We use factory-level Mercedes-Benz diagnostic software to identify Sprinter faults accurately, and our technicians have extensive hands-on experience with Sprinter-specific issues including AdBlue/DEF system problems, NOx sensor faults, transmission issues, suspension wear, and high-mileage preventive maintenance. Many Sprinter owners drive hours to bring their vans to us because of our reputation for getting it right.
Yes. We work with businesses and fleet operators of all sizes to keep their vans maintained and running reliably. Our approach for fleet accounts is diagnostics-first and uptime-focused — we work proactively to identify issues before they cause a breakdown and schedule maintenance to minimize disruption to your operations. Businesses we have served include FedEx Custom Critical, WSBT TV, Bob Frame Plumbing, Burns Plumbing, and Bancroft Services, among others.
BenzTech VanWorks is our dedicated commercial van division, launched in January 2026. It operates from the same location as Benz Tech at 3816 Lexington Park Dr, Elkhart, IN, and focuses exclusively on Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, Ford Transit, and Ram ProMaster repair and maintenance for business owners and commercial fleets. VanWorks is designed specifically around fleet uptime — keeping working vans on the road with minimal downtime and maximum reliability.
We offer comprehensive Sprinter services including full diagnostic scans, oil and fluid services, brake repair, suspension and steering repair, transmission service, engine repair, AdBlue/DEF system service, NOx and emissions-related repairs, electrical fault diagnosis, and scheduled preventive maintenance. Whether your Sprinter is a daily driver or a high-mileage work van, we have the tools and expertise to keep it reliable.
Fleet operators choose us for three main reasons: faster turnaround, honest diagnostics, and proven reliability. Dealerships often have long wait times that pull working vans off the road for days or longer. Benz Tech prioritizes efficient service and clear communication, so you know what is happening with your vans and can plan around it. Our clients have repeatedly said they would not trust their fleet to anyone else — and several drive hours out of their way to bring their vans to us. For fleet accounts, call us at (574) 333-3059 to discuss your needs.
